Workshops of Culture is a municipal cultural institution of Lublin, Poland. Our programming focuses on promoting the practice of “active culture”. We create culture: modern, interactive, interdisciplinary and innovative. Everyday application of modern technologies in cultural education and in the promotion of cultural heritage also constitute the core of our mission.
Since 2015 we organize medialab activities that enable joint work and learning of people with different skills over projects using new media and technologies. We coordinate a Medialab Workshop – a physical place with high-tech equipment but also a series of workshops open for public. So far we have organized over 40 various workshops targeted at youth and adult learners – citizens of Lublin interested in learning new technologies. All workshops within Medialab are led by experienced trainers and tackle topics like: 3D printing, CNC milling, Arduino, soldering, field recording, sound design, video editing and also a media volunteering program. In this way we try to apply fablab approach in our work, not formally being registered as a fablab. We also cooperate with various fablabs and makerspaces in Poland and strive for exchanging ideas and good practices.
